Lori Fruit, DVM

Dr. Lori Fruit, co-owner of Urban Village Veterinary Care, graduated from Purdue University’s School of Veterinary Medicine in 2005. Since then she has been lucky to have called many cities home before finally landing here in Louisville. After beginning her career near her family in Northern Indiana, she moved west and enjoyed the beauty of the Pacific Northwest for a few years before moving back to the Midwest where she spent the last 6 years closer to her family. She met Dr. Rudwell while working in Indianapolis, and is excited for the opportunity to provide top quality medicine to the pets of Louisville.

Dr. Fruit and her husband, Paul, have a busy house full of four snuggly cats (Seamus, Mortimer, Fester, and Momma), three adorable dogs (Matilda, Addison, and Bullet), and one very sweet turtle (Myrtle). From their home base in Crescent Hill, they enjoy spending their time visiting family, exploring the outdoors, traveling, and enjoying foods from all over the world.

Sara Rudwell, DVM

Dr. Sara Rudwell is one of the co-owners of Urban Village Veterinary Care, and is extremely excited to return to her roots in the Louisville area, where she grew up and spent the first half of her life. She attended Indiana University for her undergraduate degree, earning a B.S in Business. After a successful (but short) 5-year career in IT consulting, she decided to return to school and pursue a completely different path. Dr. Rudwell obtained her D.V.M. from Purdue University in 2009, and enjoyed her first 8 years of practice as an Associate Veterinarian at a busy multi-doctor practice in Indianapolis. She is excited to return to the Louisville area permanently and combine her talents with Dr. Fruit to help make Urban Village Veterinary Care the best it can be!

Dr. Rudwell enjoys spending time with her husband, Alex, and their young daughter, Vivienne. They share their house with a pit bull mix named Penny. She is an admitted TV addict, enjoys watching professional tennis, and has played the bassoon since middle school. Many moons ago she played with the Louisville Youth Orchestra, and more recently with the Indianapolis Symphonic Band and the IU school of Medicine Orchestra. She hopes to soon find a community group to start playing in Louisville again!
